New collection of poems on the subject of the desert

Working on a new collection of poems on the subject of the desert, written from the perspective of different characters – nomads, artists, mystics, refugees –  who are  journeying in the desert for different reasons.

Some of the poems are loosely based on existing people or historical figures and take the form of dramatic monologues, others are short explorations of an inner conflict or a particular challenge.

I am currently in the process of writing a sequence (which will be part of this collection) about a group of travellers in the Libyan desert.

The sequence was inspired by Saharazand, a book written by the Dutch writer Roelant Meijer, who is an experienced desert traveller.
